With the Olympics about to start there will be several EPL players who may have their preparations disrupted. What this means for our fantasy teams we don’t know, but it may pay to keep some of these guys out of your side for the time being. The final takes place on August the 11th, about a week before we kick things off for real – so you would assume any player who made it to the final, or at least the semis would be in line for a delayed start. Lets have a look at the fantasy relevant players.
Arsenal – Aaron Ramsey, Chu-Young Park
Chelsea – Ryan Bertrand, Daniel Sturridge, Juan Mata , Oriol Romeu
Everton – Gueye
Liverpool – Craig Bellamy, Luis Suarez
Man City – Micah Richards
Man United – Tom Cleverley, Ryan Giggs, Rafael, David De Gea
QPR – Ryan Nelsen
Southampton – Jack Cork
Sunderland – Ji Dong-Won
Swansea – Joe Allen, Neil Taylor, Scott Sinclair
Tottenham – Steven Caulker, Rose, Sandro
West Brom – Craig Dawson
West Ham – James Tomkins,
Wigan – Maynor Figueroa
Of particular note to me is David De Gea, could a keeper get away with this? they don’t expend as much energy as a field player. I’m not sure, I guess Lindegaard could be in for an early run. Juan Mata’s possible late start could afford Hazard a decent first few weeks pulling the strings at Chelsea. Rafael is another who has been getting interest as a cheap way into the Man U defence, will have to wait and see on this one.
I suppose the other way of looking at this is that the players comes back fit and already in form, but i’m still sure the couch would err on the side of caution and ease their men in to action. So keep your eyes on the Olympics, we don’t want our prized assets injured!
