Around the grounds

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Time for another round up of the pre-season friendlies being player around the UK and around the world! Already we are starting to see a few interesting prospects… are they pre-season bolters or the real deal?

 Chelsea 1 PSG 1 (Piazon)

Chelsea(4-2-3-1): Cech (Turnbull 62); Hutchinson (Chalobah 62), Cahill (Terry 62), David Luiz (Ivanovic h-t), Ferreira (Cole 62); Mikel (McEachran 62), Lampard (c) (Essien h-t); De Bruyne (Marin h-t), Hazard (Malouda 62), Kakuta (Ramires h-t); Lukaku (Piazon 62).

RDM continues to experiment with many changes, Most of Chelsea’s good work centered around Hazard. Ramires gave trademark spark when he came on to set up the goal.

Kaiserslautern 2 Fulham 2 (Petric 2)

Fulham Starting 11: Schwarzer; Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Riise (Briggs 69); Kacaniklic (Davies 69), Diarra (Sidwell 46), Etuhu (Baird 69), Ruiz (Frei 52); Trotta (Mesca 46), Petric

Petric scored his 3rd goal of the pre-season and looks a good shout at 6.0

Cape Town 1 Man United 1 (Bebe)

United Starting 11: Amos; Vermijl, Wootton, Ferdinand, Blackett; Valencia (Tunnicliffe 68), Carrick, Scholes (Powell 68) Anderson (Lingard 68); Kagawa (Berbatov 77); Hernandez (Bebe 68)

A youthful looking line up with Kagawa playing in the hole and receiving praise from Alex Ferguson. News of Smalling out for 10 weeks makes finding a red defender a bit easier.

Colchester 1 West Ham 2 (Maynard, Noble)

West Ham Starting 11I: Jaaskelainen; Demel (Spence 76), Reid, McCartney, Taylor; Noble, O’Neil, Nolan (Potts 4); Kazim Richards (Vaz Te 46), Cole (Mohsni 62), Maynard

Demel continues at right back… 4.0 bargain? Noble scored from the spot showing his 5.0 price will be a bargain

Motherwell 1 Everton 1 (Duffy)

Everton Starting 11: Howard; Hibbert, Duffy, Distin (Heitinga 70), Neville; Coleman, Fellaini (Naismith 70), Cahill (Rodwell 46), Osman (Junior 46); Vellios (Gibson 46), Anichebe (Jelavic 46).

Not much of note other than an ominous looking partnership between Jelavic and Naismith forming. (they have played together previously) is it the end for Cahill?

Port Talbot 0 Swansea 5 (dobbie 3, Lita, jones)

Swansea First Half: Cornell; Obeng, Tancock, Situ, Alfei; Agustien, Gower, Orlandi, Dobbie, Lita, Moore.

Swansea Second Half: Cornell, Alfei,Tancock, Davies, Richards, Situ, Lucas, Dobbie (Jones 60), Loveridge, Donnelly, Edwards

Swansea smashed Welsh minnows but not a lot to glean from this as most were fringe players.

Norwich 2 Hertha Berlin 3 (Vaughan 2)

Norwich First Half: Ruddy, R. Martin, R. Bennett, Ward, Lappin, Howson, Johnson, E. Bennett, Surman, Jackson, Holt

Norwich Second Half: Rudd, Whittaker, Barnett, Ayala, Tierney, Crofts, Hoolahan, Smith, Pilkington, C. Martin, Vaughan

Vaughan notched twice after coming on at HT

Fenerbahce 1 Newcastle 1 (Abied)

Newcastle Starting11: Elliot; Simpson (Santon 68), Tavernier, Coloccini, R Taylor; Tiote (Bigirimana 59), Gosling (Abeid 73); Obertan (Shola Ameobi 75), Vuckic (Sammy Ameobi 46), Marveaux (Gutierrez 59); Ba (Cisse 68)

Not much of note other than Ryan Taylor continuing to be a menace from dead balls.

Evian TG 0 Southampton 1 (Puncheon)

Southampton Starting XI: Davis (Gazzaniga 46); Butterfield (Richardson 46), Stephens (Fonte 46), Hooiveld (Seaborne 46), Fox (Harding 46); Ward-Prowse (Chambers 46), Schneiderlin (Hammond 46), Lallana (Chaplow 46); Puncheon (Guly 46), Rodriguez (Shaw 46 (Clyne 69)); Lambert (Sharp 46).

Clyne 4.0 was a menace on a wing, but is classed as a defender; keep an eye on for out of position gold!

CDRQ 1 Reading 1 (Harte)

Reading First Half: Andersen; Cummings, Shorey, Mariappa, Pearce; Guthrie, Leigertwood, Kebe (Obita 17), Robson-Kanu; Antonio, Roberts

Reading Second Half: Andersen; Gunnarsson, Harte, Gorkss, Morrison; McAnuff, Tabb; McCleary, Obita; Hunt, Le Fondre

Not much here.. as you were

Chicago Fire 0 Aston Villa 1 (Agbonlahor)

Aston Villa Starting 11: Given (Guzan 81), Herd (Lowton 45), Lichaj (Warnock 57), Baker (Clark 57), Dunne (Collins 45), Gardner (El Ahmadi 67), Delph (Bannan 67), Ireland (Johnson 70), N’Zogbia (Carruthers 70), Agbonlahor (Delfouneso 67), Weimann (Holman 70).

Agbonlahor scored then went off with an ankle injury, will be out for a few weeks.

Toronto FC 1 Liverpool 1 (Morgan)

Liverpool First Half: Jones: Wisdom, Sama, Carragher, Enrique: Aquilani, Spearing, Adam: Ibe, Ecclestone, Pacheco.

Liverpool Second Half: Gulacsi: Flanagan, Skrtel, Wilson, Robinson: Adorjan (Lucas 74), Shelvey, Suso: Cole, Morgan, Sterling.

Not much to glean until  ‘Pool get some players back in.

Phew.. That was a fair whip around, keep eyes peeled for more friendlies as they are played.

Nice work with the site Adzman. A few points ive picked up over the past few days, Dempsey didnt play for Fulham (possible move to Liverpool) and no Baines for Everton (Possible Everton move), a lot more moves to come before the season starts!

thanks for the kind words 7ator, and the info! are they still talking baines to man u?That would makes things harder for us trying to pick a man u defender…..

      • 7ator

Yeah, been reading about it today on a few sites. Baines will be ruined as a fantasy option if he goes to United, will lose free kicks and pens.

nice work mate. Nathaniel Clyne is an absolute jet, even if he does start at RB is a very dangerous player. Dominated for the Palace last year in the championship. Noble is now locked! Only question with petric is whether he can surpass Rodellaga (and perhaps lukaku) for constant starting time! Jol has a soft spot for him though from their time together at Hamburg.
