Projected XI’s- Tottenham

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Tottenham. New manager, new signings, new formations and of course, injuries. Are you game to pick a Spur?

A few positional battles, mainly at CB. I think AVB has learnt that a 4-3-3 with a high defensive line won’t work in the PL, and will change to a 4-2-3-1 as he has indicated in the pre-season.

Three nailed on starters, in WalkerAssou and Vertonghen. The fourth slot, at CB, is up for grabs. Younes Kaboul looks most likely to get the gig, but you’d think as new club captain Michael Dawson would stake a solid claim for a starting spot. Also, Caulker had a fantastic season with Swansea last season and could very easily be deployed first up. Gallas looks a fair way back and rumours are the AVB has already tried to move him on. Naughton will provide good bench cover for either of the fullbacks.

Unfortunately for Parker, he will miss the start of the season. This leaves a huge hole in the middle of the park, one that I feel only Sandro has the ability to fill. Unfortunately for Sigurdsson hopefuls, I think he will be stuck behind the attacking midfielders if this 4-2-3-1 system is adopted. The only game in the pre-season where both he and Van der Vaart started, he was deployed behind VDV who operated mainly in the hole- so I’m tipping his role to be fairly fruitful (provided he is fit!!). Lennon has enjoyed his first injury free pre-season in years, and looks likely to start on the wing. Bale, will start on the left of course. It’s also important to mention I’m not including Modric in these plans… I feel he is as good as gone to Real Madrid with AVB forcing him to train by himself away from the main group. The only person that I feel is not assured of their spot is Sandro, with Livermore the other option to usurp him, but I’m 75% sure they’ll start with the Brazilian.

Forwards: Hmmmm. Defoe. Only logical option they have, unless they want to hand the teenage Kane a start, which I doubt they will first game of the year. If they don’t sign another striker (Damiao, Remy) I’ll be jumping on Defoe quickly!

As always, ask me any questions on twitter! Only three more teams to project, and the competition is less than a week away! I’m getting very excited.

Just watched the CS game, and as a lot will do, I have gone Kun to Teves to save the 2.5. While Kun will surely be better, the 2.5 allows me to go …
    Taarabt to VDV/Nani/Any -9.0 midfielders.
VDV is very tempting especially with his insanely good fixtures but I also have Bale. While it might be overkill they both could potentially explode. What do you guys think?

Plenty to come out of the Community Shield. Hazard no longer a Captain candidate after what I will politely describe as an undistinguished introduction to English football. He will improve on that I know, but it was a comedy show today. And yeah, Tevez???????
