After a mixed reaction to GW1, you either had Ivanovic or you didn’t, you played either Michu or Ramires. We must now look forward to what GW2 has to offer and see who consolidates their form… and who goes bust! Here’s a wrap of this week’s news to keep you up to date.
A lot has been happening here. Just one week left in the transfer window so deals are being closed thick and fast. Firstly Fletcher has finally sealed his move to Sunderland, which is very fantasy relevant. Saha has also confirmed a deal to the Black Cats recently but expect him to play more of a back up role, at 34 he is getting on. Depending on Fletcher’s price with Sunderland’s fixtures he may be a great pick up and yet another mid-pricer for our watchlist. He may also give Sunderland the attacking edge they have missed and could bring guys like Larsson and McClean into contention as midfield options.
Buttner has joined Manchester United on a 5 year deal, hopefully giving them more depth in their injury plagued defence. It is worrying for Evra owners as the young left back seems one for the future and set to replace the 32 year-old, perhaps replacing him at certain points this season. Evra’s game time is less certain now, although with United’s problems recently he will have a few weeks locked on at least.
Mirallas has joined Everton for a fee rumoured to be around 5-6m. The winger should provide the Toffee’s some great attacking threat from out wide and could become yet another Everton mid-priced midfielder to look at. Watchlist for now, at just 24 he has great potential.
Allen has finally got his dream move to Liverpool, yet we all know how most of Liverpool’s recent signings have transitioned. A possible steal at 5.5 but I would wait to see his new role at the Reds and assess his returns. If he produces he could be a steal for our fifth mid.
The deal for Adebayor, after a prolonged transfer saga yet again involving spurs has been finalised, with the Togo international finally agreeing to contract terms. We can rejoice as fantasy managers as at 9.5 he is a fantastic premium forward option, especially with Tottenham’s upcoming fixtures. Defoe’s future is now in doubt but it’s all aboard the Ade train, he will be fantastic yet again this year hopefully backing up his 195 point haul last year.
Jarvis is the second Wolves player on the move making his way to West Ham for a rumoured 11m. It will be interesting to see his entry price and could be a great option if under 6.0. Dangerous from the left wing, with the potential to cut inside and score he is definitely one to watch.
Van Der Vaart has recently been linked with a move away from Tottenham to Hamburg. I would personally love to see him stay as I really like him as a player, but if he goes it may free up Sigurdsson for a more attacking midfield role and more assured game time. Keep an eye out.
Another rumour cricling is the unsettled Nani and a possible move away from United. After his recent poor displays on top of his extraordinary wage demands he could be on the way out, paving the perfect path for Young into our teams. At 8.5 he would be a lock for me if Nani left, definitely watch this one.
Azpilicueta looks to have sealed a move to Chelsea for 7m, and just once we thought Ivanovic was assured a starting role! WHY CHELSEA! While I still think Ivanovic is their number one RB and this is just a back up signing beware now that he might be subject to rotation, especially with UCL to deal with. Azpilicueta is not as yet fantasy relevant (Unless injuries occur). Moses rounds out the transfer moves of the past week, once again involving Chelsea. It has been released by Wigan stating that after 4 unsuccessful bids they look to have finally got their man, with only personal deals between Moses and Chelsea. I am not totally sure where he will fit in to be honest, guys like Mata, Hazard and Sturridge already patrolling the wings I’m not sure why they needed another winger, he shouldn’t be relevant anymore and should be traded immediately once this deal goes through. Hazard should be unaffected, no need to worry there.
Not too much to report here. Aguero looks set for a return after the international break so City should only be without him for two games, Tevez still looks the go to man for now. Koscielny is still not a certainty to return to Arsenal’s starting line-up this week so remain wary. United’s injury woes don’t seem to get any better with Valencia once again a possibility to start at RB. Buttner will obviously help but he probably won’t be ready for this saturday. Sir Alex has admitted that it may take at least 2 weeks if not until after the International break for his injury problems to clear up. Avoid Valencia until then, very hard to pick United’s defensive line-up. Perhaps De Gea is the safest bet here. Finally with Oxlade-Chamberlain still ruled out for another week Gervinho looks a starter this week and was very promising last Saturday, a possible smokie here.
Just a quick round-up of the team news here, look for an in-depth look tomorrow in Seag’s article, here are a few that have been debated recently. Jenkinson should start once again for Arsenal with Koscielny still a doubt. I expect Adebayor to start ahead of Defoe, even with Defoe’s goal last week. They could possibly both start although I can’t see AVB starting two strikers. However I think both are risks this week, there is every chance Defoe will start this week to give Adebayor a week to re adjust. We will know more come next week, expect Adebayor to start in the future though. Valencia is every chance to once again start at RB. I expect Rooney and Van Persie to start this week, expect big things here. Also expect Ramires to start again this Saturday, hopefully he has recovered enough to play most of the 90 minutes. Avoid Nani this week with the un-certainty over his United career, Kagawa is the pick of their mids at this stage.
Nothing else major to report, if any other issues pop up just ask me in the comments below and I will get to the bottom of them before lockout!
Well that’s the big news going around. Good luck finalising your teams for Saturday!
