Round 3 – Captain.

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Had a bit of a captaincy mare last round with my top 3 picks being total Rubbish! I did say that all players came with risk attached but who could have predicted Rooney not starting and then going off injured or Bale & VDV drawing blanks at home? Luckily picks 4 and 5, Tevez and Graham came home with the goods. Anyhow if you still trust my opinion, here we go with the round 3 captaincy whip around!

Most will consider West Ham v Fuham to be an easy fixture for the cottagers but I see it being a dour affair, if you think Fulham will run away with this Petric could be your man. I reckon Dembele leaving is a big deal, he has been instrumental so far this year. So in light of this there are no real captaincy options here for me. Free Flowing Swansea take on Sunderland, again most will think the swans can score a handful here but I think Sunderland are well organised in defence and it won’t be as easy as it was last week. Michu could be your man here with Graham the other option, I’m sure they will score one or two but don’t expect the floodgates to open again. I can actually see Johnsonstarting with a bang here, I think he’s an option.

Tottenham take on the gaping defence of Norwich, I’m willing to give spurs ONE last chance at home, With Bale and Adebeyor high up in my captaincy thinking. If they can’t score here they never will! Well organised West Brom host red hot Everton, I see this as a tight encounter with no captaincy options jumping out at me. Likewise for the Wigan v Stoke game.

Which brings us to City v QPR, This could be a cricket score and I’m tipping Tevez to be amongst the points again. Nasri is a bit hit and miss, Silva is rusty, so I guess he’s our only man right now, but any of the others could work as a risk/reward. Liverpool host a tight at the back Arsenal who have not yet gelled at the front, not many safe captains picks here either it would seem. Although Gerrard is always a good shout at Anfield. Newcastle at home to Villa looks interesting, there should be goals to the toon and I’m tipping Ba to be amongst them, Ben Arfa would be your sneaky pick.

Our last game of the round sees Man U travel to promoted Southampton. It would be a brave man who says Man u won’t score a few here, so it’s just a matter of picking who. With pesky Rooney out of the picture RVP should be on pens, free kicks and in everything, he seems a strong choice with Kawaga being another option.

So after last week’s mare I’m taking NO risks, here is the top 5 captain’s picks!

1-         Carlos Tevez

2-         Robin Van Persie

3-         Demba Ba

4-         Gareth Bale

5-         Emmanuel Adebeyor

Carlos Tevez is an all action performer, like a lion. Whenever or wherever he plays, he has scored goals, a proven FPL captain. With Agureo out of the picture and a plum fixture against QPR Tevez is ripe to be captain this week. The good thing about him is when he isn’t scoring goals he is still involved, buzzing around creating assists.

Although there is still the slight risk that RVP hasn’t integrated yet he seems hard to toss as captain vs Southampton. Even a pen or free kick may be enough for his quality to show and your captain’s points to tick over. Better still a prohibitive cost of 13.0 has scared many off, so if he comes off for you it will be even more beneficial! Ba has looked good this year and is playing a horribly out of form Villa, he is a great option if you don’t have the other 2 (surely you have them, right?) The last two lads are risks only because of the form of Tottenham. They are playing an obliging defence at home so this could be a point of difference that could come off for you if you are chasing down a mini league deficit already. But pick Bale or Ade at your own peril! Lastly I like Johnson as a hunch pick, he has quality to burn, the new move could bare immediate fruit!

Who will your round 3 captain be?

RVP! although it is a toss up between him and tevez, guess it depends if dawson, bosingwa, carhavlio deals get done and if julio starts in goal for qpr.

Southampton did give man city a good run, al habsi was outstanding for wigan last week, I think southampton might put it up too the big boys but they will be that little bit too good.

I guess I have to remember silva missed a pen & a sitter, aguero the biggest goal threat went off injured so probably gave them a slightly better chance in the match.

Tevez locked in for me. Between Michu, Graham and Kagawa for vice (not that it really matters). Bale is bound to score big soon but after watching his first two he’s been far too frustrating to captain again for mine.
