Preview – Round 6

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Bit of a shortened version of the round preview today, Grand final week has me a touch busy at work! We picked 9 of 10 results last week so we are beginning a roll….The oracle may be coming into form!  Let’s get to it.

Arsenal v Chelsea

Arsenal take on league leaders Chelsea at the Emirates, there are usually a few goals in these encounters, both teams scored 6 mid-week so are in some form. Arsenal has been fairly tight as have Chelsea but they have been riding their luck a touch. I have to give this game to Arsenal at home 2-0 or 2-1, I see this one as a cagey type of affair.  With only a few moments of brilliance to make the difference. (Those who know me know I’m only picking the filth because I’m trying to out think the karma mozz) Players to watch – Cazorla, Podolski, Mata.

Everton v Southampton

Everton takes on Southampton at home.Everton have been on fire at both ends of the pitch. They are particularly lethal coming down the left. Southampton have been fairly good going forward but shipping way too many at the other end. I’d imagine Everton can win this one 3-1 in a canter. Players to watch – Pienaar, Fellaini, Baines, Lambert

Fulham v Man City

Fulham take on City at the cottage. Fulham are awesome at home, in fact have been in good form generally. Man city are struggling, Call it a champions hangover, call it what you will. They can’t keep a clean sheet and are just a touch off the mark in most facets of the game. They have enough quality to keep them in games, and will get a result in their fair share of them but in this game I reckon Fulham can take the upset 2-0. Fulham are water tight at home and City just seem jaded enough not to be able to break them down. Players to watch – Berbatov, Duff

Norwich v Liverpool

Norwich takes on Liverpool in another tricky fixture. Norwich are not flying, but are playing well enough not to be smashed off the park, Liverpool are actually playing well but can’t score! I just know that the scouse will break the shackles one of these days and get a few in the net, I reckon maybe this is the week. I might go for another slight upset and go Liverpool to win 1-3. Players to watch – Suarez, Gerrard, Johnson.

Reading v Newcastle

Newcastle travel to Reading in a bland fixture, Reading have been OK, much like Norwich they are doing enough not to be smashed but not enough to say they can win with conviction on any particular week. Newcastle are doing well considering the elongated injury list. They have enough quality forwards to score a goal from limited opportunities. This game I reckon is 1-2 to Newcastle, they have just seemed resilient enough to get results this season most weeks. Players to watch – Ba , Ben Arfa.

Stoke v Swansea

Stoke take on Swansea in a game I’m fairly confident in picking. Stoke have been their tough playing best this year only losing one game to the league leaders. Swansea have fallen off the pace after a great start, they are still trying their passing game but their defence is falling apart. I reckon even though Stoke will only need to score once their tough tall players will make a mess of Swansea at set pieces. I could even go as far as to call this 3-0 to Stoke. Players to watch – Crouch, Adam, Huth, Shawcross.

Sunderland v Wigan

Sunderland host Wigan in another game we should be able to pick. Sunderland has been shot shy for a while now but very tight at the back. Wigan have slowly been getting worse and worse, they can win on their day but I think Sunderland will be far too organised for them. I’m tipping Sunderland to win this one 1-0. Players to watch – Fletcher, Johnson.

Man U v Tottenham

Man U take on Tottenham in an interesting game, Man U will be stinging from the Fergie abuse after last weekend; I expect them to come out firing. Tottenham have been leaking a few goals but are slowly getting their act together. They are nowhere near the team of last year and doing it the hard way but its slowly coming together. Bear in mind they have had the easiest of draws… if they had have played some quality teams AVB may already be out of a job! I reckon United can canter to a 3-0 win here. Players to watch – RVP, Valencia, Rafael

Aston Villa v West Brom

Villa takes on West Brom fresh off a 4 goal performance against City midweek. Although Villa have been underwhelming so far this year it does seem to be coming together for them a little bit more each week. West Brom have been great, they are tight and well organised and able to score on the break. Tough to call this one, I’ll be leaving it out of the multi… 1-1 the prediction. Players to watch – Lukaku, Bent.

QPR v West Ham

QPR have been getting a little better after a horror start but still don’t seem to be playing as a team just yet. West Ham have tightened right up and are very difficult to break down. I reckon this could even be a 0-0 snore fest. Players to watch – change the channel and watch a movie.

So that’s the round preview, have I made any howlers? Let me know.

Look out for the news wrap later today.

Good luck!

I will also respect the mozz by restraining myself…….

One thing I would love to see though, is a recommended multi bet at the end of the article based on your confidence levels for each game. Could use the potential Fulham upset to inject some value maybe? (I know this isn’t a betting site but we all like a punt don’t we???)

Great article…also love the weekly EPL multi longshot…haven’t hit one yet this year but had a pretty good run last year. Im going Ars/Chel and Ful/City both draws with United Everton Newc and Sunderland to win…..paying $124!

Couple of bucks on it today….and then maybe a few more after I clean up in the GF tomorrow 😉

I recon it is time to look at the west brom defense.
A few easy fixtures coming up for them and they are not playing so badly.

You guys don’t get the traffic or credit you deserve for this site. Great article and love the players to watch listed after the write up. Keep up the good work lads.
Going Rioli first goal into Rok for norm smith as a hail Mary…

I doubt Sagna will be rushed back in GW7. Jenks is doing a fine job at RB there’s no reason to rush him back so soon. Can see him being eased back.

Does seem that prices are more volatile this year. There’s a lot of knee jerkers out there!

Decent gambling weekend… Missed all my dirty multis but picked up Osman to be first Everton goal scorer and Storm to win by over 6.5. Ended up a couple of hundred… Can’t make a bet Villa v West Brom, too unpredictable I reckon… OK, maybe… A sneaky tenner on a 2-2 draw @ $12

Adz, do a gambling thread 😀 Go on.
