News Wrap – GW10

Hey lads, quick recap of this weeks big events so far. Let’s take a look…

  • The one that concerned most people, Mata returned midweek in the champion’s league and played out the full 90. They are not the same team without him and expect him to start on Sunday…
  •  This one doesn’t directly affect many people, however it should ensure Simpson starts at RB for the next month as Perch should miss at least 3 weeks. Simpson is rated a doubt this week with a shoulder concern and could miss this week again. It shouldn’t be too serious though…
  • Johnson has returned to training for Liverpool and should be back very soon. Wisdom may have had his run and could be set for some bench time…
  • Ba was rested midweek for Newcastle and I’m hopeful he should start. Pardew is thinking the same so I’ll back him in.
  • McCarthy could face a short spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury. The big news for managers who traded him as a 4.0 bargain will be how Federici performs… hard to tell who’s number one at the moment
  • Speaking of keepers Foster is set to have his groin tested this week in the lead up to West Brom’s trip to Wigan. His owners will be hopeful but I can’t see a clean sheet anyway…
  • Morrison is expected to return after surprisingly missing last week’s home clash against Southampton… I’m still pissed, but he should be back!
  • Gibbs is still out with his, 2-3 week calf injury… This really annoys me when managers say their “close to return” yet it ends up being months. If you held him it’s time to let him go, unless you just want to place him on the bench. Diaby, Rosicky and Gervinho are all still missing for Arsenal. The Ox and Ramsey will face fitness tests ahead of their clash with Fulham but I expect Walcott to start on the right…
  • Still on Arsenal Sczcesny has been rated a ‘possibility’ for this weekend but he will return as soon as he is fit, he may provide a decent budget keeper option with Arsenal’s fixtures…

  • Van Persie has been lighting it up recently and grabbed both a goal and assist midweek. He is your go to captain if you own him and expect him to deliver yet again this week! Even better news was that he was rested as well, changing the game off the bench! He should be fresh…
  • Podolski has admitted he is keen to move into the middle for Arsenal. This has been talked about a lot and clearly Pod isn’t too happy, but how can he fit there? Giroud would need to be moved or a midfielder sacrificed… Can Wenger change his formation? He might need to…
  • Rooney is in a good vein of form at the moment. Whilst he only managed 2 points last week, he really should have gained his 3rd double figure point haul in 4 weeks after his missed penalty. He once again stepped up to the spot midweek with RVP on the pitch and looks to be the number one taker at United. Expect him to be amongst it again this week.
  • Man United continued their scoring form midweek bagging 3 in the final 10 minutes of the game, it seems when they need to put the pedal down they have the ability to score heavily. Last weekend they cruised to a 2-1 win against Arsenal, and really should’ve had 4-5 goals without trying. It is ominous signs for the rest of the competition, RVP has done wonders.
  • Arsenal is really struggling at the moment, for both goals and points. Be wary of any of their assets, don’t get your hopes up this weekend and certainly don’t captain Cazorla!

That’s it for this week, good luck this weekend and let’s hope our premiums bounce back!
