Got it all this week. Injuries, suspensions, Champions League ties and Europa League ties marring selection. Personally, I’ve got a bad feeling about some of my players (Morrison and Rooney) while a few others are in serious doubt (Ba ).
Arsenal v Fulham
Mannone; Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen; Ramsey, Cazorla, Arteta; Walcott, Giroud, Podolski.
Santos has been positively woeful…the Arse fielded Verm at LB midweek and that should continue in the PL. Ramsey will replace Wilshere, on the condition he shook off a midweek knock. Walcott should start after impressing midweek.
Schwarzer; Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Riise; Duff, Baird, Sidwell, Richardson; Ruiz, Berbatov.
Diarra is a 50/50 chance after a knock last week, while Rodallega and Kacaniklic will be looking at taking Richardson‘s starting role. Baird is also a doubt through injury.
Everton v Sunderland
Howard; Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Mirallas, Neville, Osman, Pienaar; Fellaini; Jelavic.
Hibbert is back so Coleman may lose his starting role. Apart from that nothing should change on the injury front.
Mignolet; Bardsley, Cuellar, O’Shea, Rose; Johnson, Larsson, Cattermole, McClean; Gardner; Fletcher.
Form is the only issue here. Sessegnon is sitting on the bench and a very potent player when on form, so I wouldn’t think he’d sit there for too long. McClean has been positively shit after showing so much last season, I’d expect him to be flicked.
Reading v Norwich
Federici; Gunter, Gorkss, Morrison, Shorey; Kebe, Tabb, Karacan, McAnuff; Hunt, Pogrebnyak.
McCarthy is injured so Aussie boy Federici will return between the sticks. Pogrebnyak should be recalled for the home fixture while Guthrie is still out.
Ruddy; Martin, Bassong, Turner, Garrido; Snodgrass, Tettey, Johnson, Pilkington; Hoolahan; Holt.
Martin is a doubt, while Whittaker will replace him if he doesn’t come up in time. Bennett has been benched in favour of Snodgrass recently.
Southampton v Swansea
Boruc; Clyne, Yoshida, Fonte, Fox; Ramirez, Schneiderlin, Davis; Rodriguez, Lambert, Lallana.
Ramirez returns for the Saints, who are seeking their second win this term. Puncheon and Do Prado will remain on the bench, while Hooiveld seems to be the third choice CB.
Tremmel; Rangel, Monk, Williams, Davies; Ki, Britton, De Guzman, Routledge, Michu, Hernandez.
Vorm is still out, and Chico is highly unlikely to feature according to Laudrup. Monk will replace him, while Michu looks like continuing up front. I think he’s a good shout for captain this week…
Stoke City v QPR
Begovic; Cameron, Huth, Shawcross, Wilkinson; Whelan, Nzonzi, Adam, Kightly; Walters; Crouch.
Much of the same from Stoke, with Wilkinson covering Wilson at LB.
Cesar; Bosingwa, Nelsen, Ferdinand, Traore; Wright-Phillips, Granero, Diakite, Taarabt; Hoilett; Cisse.
Cisse v Zamora will be an interesting one for the striker post, while Mackie has been preferred to Wright-Phillips previously on the right- it’s anyone’s guess who will start.
Wigan v West Brom
Al Habsi; Ramis, Caldwell, Figueroa; Boyce, McCarthy, Watson, Beausejour; Di Santo, Maloney; Kone.
McArthur is a doubt, and didn’t start last week, so Watson should keep his place.
Foster; Thomas, Olsson, McAuley, Ridgewell; Odemwingie, Yacob, Mulumbu, Dorrans; Gera; Long.
Morrison looks set to miss after picking up a training injury, which means Gera will continue in the hole. Odemwingie did his bi-annual trick of looking like he knows how to play, while Thomas replaced Tamas.
Aston Villa v Manchester United
Guzan; Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Stevens; El Ahmadi, Delph, Ireland; Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor.
Few formational changes for Villa last week saw the three strikers all start up front. Bent is injured, while unfortunately for Holman and Albrighton a 4-3-3 doesn’t see much room for wide midfielders, the CM should be occupied by El Ahmadi who returns from suspension.
De Gea; Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Scholes, Carrick; Valencia, Rooney, Young; Van Persie.
Rooney played 90 midweek so be wary, while Evans is a doubt- given the lack of backup at the CB slot I’ll safely assume he’ll start unless his back explodes.
Manchester City v Tottenham
Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Garcia, Toure, Barry, Nasri; Aguero, Tevez.
Milner and Rodwell are out for City, who played on Tuesday so should have enough rest to avoid too much rotation. Silva and Maicon are back in training but are still a week or two away. Lescott should start over Nastasic on account of the young Serb apparently having no idea how to defend.
Friedel; Walker, Caulker, Gallas, Vertonghen; Sandro, Huddlestone; Bale, Dempsey, Lennon; Defoe.
Much of the same from Tottenham, who are still without Dembele for the next week or two. Defoe should keep his strikers post after netting a hattrick midweek.
Newcastle v West Ham
Krul; Santon, S Taylor, Williamson, Ferguson; Ben Arfa, Anita, Cabaye, Guitierrez; Ba, Cisse.
Coloccini is suspended, while Perch and Simpson are both doubtful, leaving Santon to jump over to the right and Ferguson deputise at LB. Anita will continue in place of Tiote while Ba apparently will start- leaving Ameobi on the bench.
Jaaskelainen; Demel, Reid, Collins, McCartney; Diame, Noble, Nolan; Benayoun, Carroll, Jarvis.
Demel is back, which relegates Tomkins to the bench, but apart from that it’s much of the same for the Hammers- who sit at 8th spot on the table.
Chelsea v Liverpool
Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Bertrand; Mikel, Ramires; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.
JT is the only inclusion I can see, and from a Chelsea supporters point of view I bloody hope he comes in over Luiz. The realist in me says that Cahill will be benched though. Ramires will start again despite being 1 yellow away from suspension, as Lampard is still injured. Bertrand is likely to deputise for Cole after RDM admitted it was too soon for him to face up against Liverpool. This is why I think Cahill will be chosen over Luiz , RDM needs Terry to help Bertrand out on the left to make sure they are not exploited like they were against the Ukranian leaders.
Reina; Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson; Sahin, Allen, Gerrard; Suso, Suarez, Sterling.
Liverpool will line up as they normally do, having left their First team squad back in the North for the midweek trip to Russia.
Sorry for the succinct write up guys, have my Property Law exam in the not too distant future. Here’s to hoping for a better week after last week’s calamity!
