GameWeek 11 Review

Reading Time: 3 minutes

A better GW this week, but it still wasn’t the best! Personally I’m having a bloody hard time registering any clean sheets at all, but thanks to a few goals from Berbatov I was above the average for the first time since about September. Really quick review this week, am juggling exams and work!

Arsenal v Fulham

Wenger must be pissed. His team finally look like winning a game, and they go and throw it away. Schwarzer pitched in with a penalty save to relieve owners who started him, while Giroud finally showed why he scored the most goals in Ligue 1 last year, grabbing a couple and looking sharp. Berbatov netted two and assisted one, and has definitely secured penalties… LOCK!

Everton v Sunderland

Johnson finally netted for Sunderland, and became their second top scorer for the season- tied with Demba Ba….. But the main talking spot was Fellaini. The man is amazing… I mean, he is unplayable at the moment. He is almost becoming a must have…but I’m 60% sure he will be moving on in January to greener pastures- will he have the same effect for Chelsea or Man CityJelavic scored a poachers goal as only he can, ending a four game scoreless streak for him.

Reading v Norwich

Yawn. Next.

Southampton v Swansea

In what looked like being a free-flowing, high scoring game, you would have been forgiven for locking in Michu as your captain. It was a scrap really, with Dyer levelling things up after Schneiderlin‘s improvised header. Both teams are looking bereft of any confidence. I would be seriously considering Michu to Fellaini asap!

Stoke v QPR

Was this result any going to be any different? 1-0 seems to be the only way Stoke wins, this time with Adam notching his first. Crouch‘s stocks are dropping every week, and given that they only score one goal per game, you would have to put him in the same boat as Fletcher and give him his marching orders. Shawcross provided some relief for his owners with a solid 9 points (w 3 BP).

West Brom v Wigan

West Brom are a quality side this year. Clarke has them playing some very disciplined football. Morrison overcame injury to nod home, before Kone showed why his stocks should raise significantly higher than they have.

Aston Villa v Man United

Man U did what only Man U can do. And that smug prick Hernandez was the reason. 2 goals and 1 assist later (the second was counted as an own goal), Man United have emerged with another win they didn’t deserve. Weimann has been playing well lately, and returned a well earnt brace, while Benteke chipped in with an assist. It’s hard to see how SAF can keep him on the bench any longer…

Man City v Tottenham

Tottenham went ahead through a Caulker corker and a Hart howler. Aguero then equalised before that man Dzeko came on and won another game off his own boot. Watching Man City is getting to be like watching the NBA- All you have to do is watch the last 5 minutes. Man City jump to 2nd while AVB will suffer scrutiny for benching Defoe in favour of Adebayor after the former’s hattrick midweek.

Newcastle v West Ham

Earnt myself a cheeky 80 bucks from guessing the scoreline for this one. Newcastle peppered Jaasekaleinen but just couldn’t find a way through. The Hammers captain Nolan again scored… continuing his rich vein of form. I personally can’t remember a midfielder that gets into such dangerous positions, how he was in the championship last year is beyond me. A diamond.

Chelsea v Liverpool

The less said about this the better. Chelsea went up from a Terry thump at the near post, before he was stretchered off with suspected ligament damage in his knee. Mata missed a golden chance, before that tremendously sincere* Uruguayan nodded them level. Liverpool could have snatched the win late if it weren’t for a few moments of Cech magic. Chelsea will be disappointed after spurning chance after chance, and taking their tally to just 2 points from 3 games. November nausea has set in again folks.

*By this I mean that little oxygen thief.

Score: 52
Captain: Rooney
Lord: Jaaskelainen, Berbatov
Loser: Rooney, Torres, Hazard.
Trades: Already made Rooney > RVP, Torres > Kone.
Vent: For the umpteenth week in a row my captain scored 2… time for RVP to relieve the pain.

Well that does it from me, let me know how you went below. Apologies again for being slack these last few days… Two more days and I’ll be giving you more!

Funny, you traded in Kone the same week I trade him out! Couldn’t ignore berba and with Ba and RVP I didn’t have any room for him. He is decent, but there are certainly better options… Crouch got an assist also, his stocks seem fine to me 🙂

    Score: 61
    Captain: Hazard
    Lord: Berbatov, Fellaini, Shawcross, Begovic
    Loser: Ben Arfa, Rafael, Hazard.
Trades: Strongly considering Michu/Ben Arfa/Hazard departing. But to who is the question, Mata? I could perhaps go to Morrison allowing a future move from Tevez to RVP.. that’s going to be a few days thinking!
Vent: A poor effort from Oscar when 1 on 1 with the keeper early in the Chelsea v Liverpool game would’ve given my captain (Hazard) at least an assist. Ben Arfa is in horrible form. Chelsea and Newcastle should’ve saluted (I only needed Newcastle to even draw) – cost me a very favourable multi.
Other: The man Baines just finds a way to get in the points. When they finally restrict a side to a clean sheet, he’s going to go huge.

    Captain: Rooney
Lord: Crouch, Begovic, Cameroon & Morrison
Loser: Rooney, Rafael, Baines, Pienaar, Hazard and everyone else.
    Trades: Need HELP!!!! Cant decide….
Can only bring in one of RVP and Fellaini. Would do the following: Pienaar-> Fellaini.
OR Rooney -> RVP & Ba to cheapie.
I know Ba has a pretty good run of fixtures but I desperately want RVP!!
Vent: Rooney captain last two weeks. Total return: 8. Think its time for a change. But the decision is whether to get RVP or Fellaini amd to downgrade Ba to who if I do.

Loser: Vermalean and Hazard, over 17m for 3 pts a week. Also Duff (but he was on my bench)
Trades: Already made Pienaar > Fellaini, considering Duff > Nolan for a hit, or wait till next week.
    Vent: Ba’s disallowed goal 🙁
Tougn decision coming up this week in goals Bego vs Jaask???

Also, I too think that Crouch is doing fine 🙂

Vent: Schneiderlin sat out this week and scored 8. Grrr. Figured it was time to upgrade him for someone more solid so that I can play 5 mids each week, so come in Fellani!

    Captain: Baines
    Lord: Berbatov, Morrison
    Loser: Rooney
Trades: Michu to Fellaini and Rooney to RVP :O
Vent: Traded in Fellaini the second he went up from 7.4 to 7.5, the site kept bugging out and I didnt know why, til I saw his price in my team.

  9. Stiffy Sexton

    Score: 40
    Captain: RVP
    Lord: Berbatov
Loser: The whole team except RVP
Trades: This week, Kolorov>Cameron & Boyce>Baines, (Next week, midfield, Hazard>Mata & Ben Arfa>Silva, if they dont perform this week. Also, will look toward Pienaar>Morrison & Taarabt>Fellaini in later weeks.) I think I have missed the boat on Fellaini, but will find a way to get him in.
Vent/Brag: I must thank this site for the advice given, got in Berbatov at the right time. This is my first season and slowly learning…..I did however, choose Pienaar over Fellaini a couple of weeks back, should have listened to you guys. My defence is in order now. Thanks again. Attack is looking good with RVP & Berbatov, though Podolski scored this week, was always going to happen after getting rid of him….
