Not a bad round last week for the captain’s article with RVP, Fellaini and Berbatov delivering the goods although Baines continues to be a thorn in my side. There looks to be a few good options this week also but will they be good enough to oust perma-captain RVP? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal v Tottenham, the classic north London derby ALWAYS has loads of goals in it, we all have great memories of 4-4’s through the years and I doubt this one will be any different. So who can we find to score goals for us? Cazorla is still on my never again list (for another week atleast) but Walcott could be good. Giroud is starting to come good also. For the spurs this is the type of game Bale could excel in but as with most Nth London derby’s its anything goes really. Even the big Togolese could fire up against his former side!
Liverpool takes on Wigan in a game dripping opportunities for one Luis Suarez. He has been on fire of late scoring or assisting in most games and he should be able to continue in that vain. Man City hosting Villa also would seem a good captaincy game for either Tevez or Aguero but it’s hard to know which one. Tevez may shade it after resting midweek. Silva may also be about to make his way back into calculations
Newcastle v Swansea is a game that Newcastle should be able to get some joy from. Ba has slowed slightly of late thanks to some niggling injuries but would be an ok option this week along with twinkle toes Ben Arfa. QPR v Southampton doesn’t really scream out at me, you could punt on Taarabt but it would take big balls!
Reading v Everton Sees the afro headed Felliani sitting front row and centre in the captaincy stakes Reading are improving but not enough to stop Everton from scoring a couple here. I’ll give Baines a rest this week from the captaincy article, so you know what that means…..
West Brom hosts Chelsea in a game that looks tight to my eyes. Chelsea has tailed off just slightly and West Brom is playing some good stuff at home. Mata is the ever present captains choice from Chelsea, he’s always amongst it it seems while Morrison and Long are doing good things for the hosts. But I reckon there are better choices than to use this game.
Norwich v United cha chingggg. Lock in RVP you say? Don’t mind if I do.
Fulham takes on a shot shy Sunderland in a game that also drips potential for the silky Berbatov, he should be right up there in your thinking this week with Ruiz looking good also if your one of the 15 people that own him. Finally West Ham takes on Stoke in what should be a rough and tumble type of game with little action but lots of tackles. Nolan has been hard to ignore of late but I think I will do just that, better options elsewhere it seems.
So there’s some analysis, who are the top 5?
A lot of familiar looking names here and for good reason, they are all stars and in form. To be honest the top 3 were a roll of the dice, either could have taken it. I have chosen RVP because he rarely fires a blank and I want my 13 million pounds worth! He hit the bar twice last week so could have had a much bigger score than he came home with. Facing Norwich wont daunt him in the slightest. Suarez against Wigan is a great pick, he has been in everything so far this year. Once known for diving and doing stupid things he is now known for diving, doing stupid things and scoring goals. Berbs is in cracking form, he is just so silky, the Mark Waugh of football. When not in form he can look laconic and disinterested but when in form, like now; he looks like neo from the matrix… a step ahead of everyone else doing it all in slow motion. Another great pick against a struggling Sunderland. Fulham have scored the second most goals this year so get on! Felliani is in irresistible form right now, unplayable on his day he is a creator with the ball at his feet, a target for the ball on his head in the box and also is always there a bout’s to poach a goal. Finally Tevez takes on an obliging villa, I’m always loath to choose city captains right now because you never know what Mancini will do but if anyone is going to do well I’d reckon it could be Tevez this week after not playing mid-week.
So there’s my picks; have I missed any? Who will be your round 12 captain?
