Captains – Round 30

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Gameweek 30 is just around the corner, you know what that means! Time for a look at the captain options for this week…

The Contenders:

Fellaini – It would be a big risk, however he seems to like these type of games. He scored in the previous outing between the two sides and City are certainly not setting the EPL alight. One Man City have been however is solid at the back. I can’t see a free flowing game, hence I don’t recommend you go Fellaini captain for your looking for a differential. Look elsewhere.

Aguero – Like I say, not expecting a high scoring game here. Could snag a goal, but better captain options going around this week.

Benteke – QPR at home will tempt many into captaining, that I have no doubt. Just remember that they haven’t scored more than 2 goals in a home game all year. Bear that in mind. He is almost a certainty to score and could notch a couple, however there may be better options out there. If your willing to risk it however he could produce big for you…

Sturridge – Let a lot of people down recently, with most owning Suarez I would never advise captaining Sturridge over him. Not for me.

Gerrard – While there is a high likelihood of Suarez crumbling to allow Stevie G to the spot, these aren’t usually his type of games. Will probably snag a few points but unlikely to go big. Not for me.

Walcott – His form has dropped slightly in recent times, correlating with his move back out to the wing. Honestly don’t understand why Giroud continues to be handed starts… It’s like Wenger is attempting to not make the top 4, perhaps a statement to the board? Probably a statement to get him sacked. Either way Walcott would be a massive risk…

Lukaku – He really shone last week, he has the ability to tear any defence apart so Stoke will be targeting as the danger man for sure. They have been poor at the back in recent times and an away trip to Stoke is not as feared as it once was. Not a captain option this week but still a quality mid price forward.

Sissoko – He let quite a few people down with a 5 point haul last week. While he is solid, and great value for a 6.5 midfielder, I wouldn’t go giving him the big C often. Don’t like him as a captain option.

Top 3:

1. Van Persie – Now the top 3 this week is almost a top 4, and I’ll explain why. If I put Rooney and RVP both at number 1 people would say it’s a cop out, however I figure pretty much everyone will only have one or the other. RVP is by far the safest of the two man United forward line, purely because he is a locked on starter. With Rooney, who knows. You don’t go talking back to Sir Alex and get away with it. Is he likely to score big? Yes. Is he a big risk? Of course. With RVP you know what your gonna get. 90 minutes, at least a goal and most like a double figure haul. If your like me and own Rooney, the choice is up to you. personally I’m swaying with Suarez at this stage, but things could change when some team news is released…

2. Bale – He continues to defy the odds and just keep scoring points. A home game against Fulham looks juicy, and if you don’t own RVP I’d probably be leaning towards Bale. Even those with RVP could probably be easily persuaded. he usually steps up for big games though, when Spurs need him most. He has scored most of his goals away from home and I’m not sure he’ll be the top scorer in this list of players. However that’s probably just me finding a reason to justify not captaining him again, select and forget!

3. Suarez – He is the form of his career, and doesn’t look like slowing up. I like him for more than a goal yet again this weekend, I love watching him play more and more every week. He is growing in confidence each game and is firm favourite to take out this years golden boot. Classy player, get on him! A good captains choice once again this week.

The Punt:

Mata – Is this the week he’ll return to his best form? He is certainly a risk, Chelsea have slowed goals wise and so has he. However I’m tipping him to bounce back this week, not that I’ve aid that the past few weeks either! If you’re wanting a risky one then this is it!

That’s it from me this week, the preview is on its way shortly! Good luck to all in bouncing back from last week’s disaster! Cheers.

Cant decide between Bale and Rooney!!! I know which ever one I go the other one will score hat-trick! I really should keep the faith in Bale to continue this awesome run but really feel like Rooney will have night out………………….
