Dream Team – GW10

Reading Time: 4 minutes

kun v norwich

Yet another week of the haves and have nots! Just like last week you either had this player and scored a massive score, or didn’t and scored relatively poorly. This time it was Kun Aguero who helped his owners get the top scores, while Suarez did nothing.  Also, the midfielders largely let us down again as can be seen by the very low turnout in the Dream Team.

Begovic (5.4m) – It’s not every day a goal keeper turns goal scorer but Begovic did it and it’s the main reason for his 9 points. Stoke don’t look like keeping too many clean sheets in the near future so I’d hold off on swapping someone like Mignolet for him who is around the same price. Unless this is the start a goal scoring spree!

Caulker (5.0m) – I suggested in my last POD that the derby was going to be a low scoring affair and that Cardiff were a chance of snatching a goal. Caulker scored the only goal to help him on the way to 15 points, along with full BPs. Although Cardiff now have 2 clean sheets on the trot, it’s difficult to imagine they’ll get too many more in the near future so look at others around this price range.

McAuley (5.4m) – When you play one of the promoted teams at home you really should be penning in a clean sheet, which is exactly what West Brom did on the weekend. McAuley scored one of their two goals and was given full BPs for his 15 points. He’s another that has a difficult run of games coming up and don’t see many benefits of trading him in.

Nastasic (5.4m) – Nastasic could consider himself one of City’s first names on the team sheet nowadays, but it’s a measure of their defence as a collective that he’s only had 2 previous additional point scoring games. If they can get into the habit of keeping it tighter at the back then at this price he’s very good value. He scored 14 points as one of the many goal scorers, as well as being part of the clean sheet and getting a couple of BPs.

Yanga-Mbiwa (4.4m) – Nooooo… I wouldn’t be going near Newcastle’s defence any time soon. They need to show a lot more resilience than they have so far this season. Although they were very good on Saturday it was probably more down to Chelsea not getting their act together in attack rather than anything Newcastle did. 9 points from the clean sheet and full BPs.

Rosenior (4.0m) – Hull aren’t going to get too many clean sheets this season, but if you’re looking for a super cheapie to sit in that last defender position to free up some coin then you can do a lot worse. His game time is pretty much locked in and his position in the team is conducive to attacking points. This week he got 9 points from the clean sheet against Sunderland and full BPs.

Cazorla (9.6m) – With Arsenal’s midfield depth and quality nearly at an all time high it’s going to be really tricky trying to get a gauge on future point scoring. For instance what happens when (or if?) Walcott gets back in the team? It’s going to be a big test of their champion credentials seeing how they go in making sure everyone is kept happy and match fit. I’m taking a wait and see approach. Cazorla scored a goal and received full BPs for his 11 points.

Ramsey (7.1m) – More goals! Like Cazorla, there will come a time when Ramsey’s game time drops in order to keep the massive squad of midfielders happy, and to prevent burn out. It has to… He can’t keep this goal scoring run up forever can he? 10 points from a goal and a couple of BPs.

Aguero (11.6m) – As I said at the top, the star this week was Sergio Aguero. Man City’s massive 7-0 win was very much helped by Aguero’s 3 assists, goal and full BPs for 18 points. I’m now officially a convert. If you don’t have him, you need to try and find a way of getting him now or risk slipping further behind the pack. Find a way.

Rooney (10.9m) – Little Wayne just keeps motoring along. He had a very brief lean patch but he’s hit back with 12 point totals in the past couple of weeks. This week he scored a goal, an assist and took home full BPs. To be fair though Fulham were pretty horrible in defence and have been for most of the season. United have an up and down few games coming up but Rooney can score against anyone. If you have a forward line of him, Suarez and Aguero you’re laughing.

RVP (13.9m) – RVP has hit a little purple patch scoring 3 in 3 league games but with so many other better and cheaper forward options it’s a nope from me still. If you still have him however then you can keep him knowing he’s in a little bit of form and could get better. This week he scored 12 points from a goal, an assist and full BPs.

There weren’t many players worth mentioning out of those remaining, but please feel free to give some shout outs below! How many of us a finding a way to get Aguero in? I’ve taken a hit to get him but if you read our Q&A’s last week, none of my previous hits have worked out. I guess I should apologise in advance…

Honestly, I think Walcott will take Rosicky’s place mainly, maybe a couple of floatations here and there, but i doubt there will be much of it, considering how well they are dominating there!
Also, I’m proud to say my forward line does now look like that!

Rosicky? Where on the bench? I’m sure Walcott will be chuffed to sit on the bench all season…. Ramsay, Ozil, Wilshere, Cazorla, Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky, Gnabry and finally Walcott… I hope I haven’t missed anyone. Who you gonna piss off and not play? We’ll quite happily take Arteta back for a million.

I don’t think so, Walcott would be there in place of Rosicky. Even once Wilshere is fit Wenger would play Wilshere over, Rosicky. I am a fan of playing Rosicky with Caz and Ozil for linkup play but team needs a winger like Walcott/Ox. I believe Gnabry would be the option of Walcott for other cup matches.

How about I do a piece on Arsenal? Get around it on Thursday, I’d love to hear all the opinions because I bet every single one of us has a completely different one!

IMO, Walcott is easily in our best XI alongside giroud, ozil and cazorla. Without him we can be very one dimensional. Ramsey, Arteta, Wilshere and Flamini will fight it out for the defensive mid spots, honestly I think Ramsey and Arteta are ahead, but not much in it. Gnabry and Rosicky bench.

Rosicky’s mainly playing because of the injuries to Flamini and WIlshere. Walcott’s gonna be playing from the bench which Rosicky probably won’t even have a place on.

Was just saying over Rosicky because Wilshere was injured hence why Rosicky was played, but Wenger will surely place Walcott on the field over Rosicky and Wilshere any day.

actually if I take a hit I can trade out Ferdinand too. So Barkley & Ferdinand for Lallana and Rosenior maybe?

I hate recommending others taking hits! Brady is good value? He’s only played limited minutes recently but that will pick up very soon. Or Kasami? He looks full of confidence at the moment and could be a good POD, and he’s cheap so you can use that mill elsewhere. If you really wanna take a hit maybe go for a Swansea defender. They may have lost their keeper for a while but Tremmel is a very good back up.

    Here’s a Champions League Preview
    Champions League Preview
    Matchday 4
Man City vs. CSKA Moskva- Prediction 3-0: City’s home form is irresistible and they should continue their delightful form against CSKA. Best options here are Aguero, Silva and Toure.

Real Sociead vs. Man. United- Prediction 1-2: Away form isn’t the best and they are conceding goals, however Rooney and Chicarito should be in for some goals/assist. RVP will most likely be rested.
    Punt- Valencia

Juventus vs. Real Madrid- Prediction 1-2: Real Banged in 7 against a hapless Sevilla side on Thursday night. Look for more goals to come; I strongly suggest holding Ronaldo, however Isco has been benched in the past two UCL matches so look to move him on.
    Punt- Tevez

København vs.Galatasaray- Prediction 0-1: This is a tough game to predict, I think Kobenhavn will be tough to break down at the back. So look for a tight game that could go either way. With 6 and 4 league goals respectively, Drogba and Sneijder are your best bets, however I would avoid with upcoming home and away ties with Juventus and Madrid.
    Punt- Emmanuel Eboue

Paris Saint Germain vs. Anderlecht- Prediction 4-
How impressive was Zlatan in the away leg? Already earning plenty of suitors for the home leg he looks a great option, against the struggling Anderlecht who has struggled so far. However Blanc (PSG’s coach) has stated both his strikers Cavani and Ibra have thigh issues and as a result could be rested. http://au.eurosport.com/football/champions-league/2012-2013/psg-s-cavani-and-ibrahimovic-doubts-for-anderlecht-tie_sto3992833/story.shtml Keep an eye out on the squads. At the back Thiago Silva will make his return and Gregor Van Der Wiel’s runs down the flank will surely earn more attacking returns.
    Punt-Lucas Moura
*Note Cavani is out and Ibrahimovic is fit.

Plzeň vs. Bayern- Prediction 1-5- It is all about the visitors for this game. Arjen Robben will again miss out with a groin problem. Toni Korros should be fit though and Jérôme Boateng is back after suspension. I think Muller will start up front and Ribery on the flank. Expect a thrashing with Plzen to sneak in a goal.
Punt-Mario Gotze- should start in place of Robben.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Leverkusen- Prediction-2-2: This game for me spells goals. The first leg resulted in a 4-0 win to Bayer, with Kiessling and Rolfes once again getting on the scoresheet look at these two as solid options again. However it is Leverkusen’s loss to Braunschweig, and Donestk’s 7-0 win on the weekend that has my eyeing out a couple of their assets. Douglas Costa (6.0) and Alex Teixeira (5.5), look great options in midfield, after both scored a brace at the weekend.
    Punt-Luiz Adirano

    Olympiacos vs. Benfica- Prediction 1-0
This game could go either away, if you fancy Olympiacos I’d look at Mitrogolou, otherwise Weiss is cheap at 4.0. Benfica’s defence has been good, they are undefeated in 5 league games. Luisao and Lazar Markovic are good options

    Punt- Ola John

Zenit St Petersburg vs. Porto- Prediction 0-1: I think FC Porto will fight back and earn a tough win in the return leg for Zenit. However both teams have shown defensive resilience so look at Mangala and Lombaerts for Zenit.

Chelsea vs. Schalke- Prediction 3-1: Chelsea will look to cement the place in the 2nd round of the UCL with a home tie against a German Side in poor form. I expect Chelsea to score goals, however will likely concede 1 or to themselves. Can’t go past Oscar, Hazard, Schurle after midweek rest.
    Punt- If your mad Torres.

Basel vs. Steaua- Prediction 2-0: Basel should get a comfortable result here; Marco Streller and Mohammad Salah are your best differentials here.
Punt- Federico Piovaccari could offer some value for the away side, he has 5 goals in the league and 3 goals in Champions league (including play offs)

Dortmund vs.Arsenal- Prediction 1-0: I think Arsenal will struggle against a secure Dortmund defence. The travel should play a part, along with a rotated side. Your best option from Dortmund is without a doubt Lewandoski.
    Punt- Mats Hummels/Ramsey

Napoli vs. Marseille- Prediction 3-1: Marseille have really struggled in all competitions this year and have lost 5 out of their last 6. Napoli on the other hand are flying in Serie A currently 2nd, Hamsik is flourishing in the number 10 position and Higuian is in pretty good form to.
    Punt-Jose Callejon

Atlético vs.Austria Wien- Prediction 4-0: Costa is in great form, along with David Villa, both should get starts and get points. At the back looks good for defensive returns with Austria Wien failing to find the scoresheet in the first 3 games, Juanfran and Filipe Luis are good options
    Punt- Raul Garcia

Ajax vs. Celtic- Prediction 0-0- Don’t think either team are good investment with games against Milan and Barcelona to come.

    Captain Options
    Aguero/Ronaldo/Ibrahomvic>>>Oscar/ Turan/Texeira
    Alaba/Van Der Wiel>>Lewandoski/Messi
    Robben/Silva>> Hulk/Costa
Drogba >Mitroglou (if you enjoy a punt)

  3. supajeff
