I think Aguero has proved once and for all that hungry forwards against lesser opposition is the way to go this season! Let’s see if we can keep it up this week, it’s time for some captains study!
Benteke – Usually I’d be looking at this one and thinking he’s a shoe in for at least a goal, however his form and confidence has not yet returned since the injury lay off and Villa are struggling. If you own him I think it would be a step too far to captain him whilst so out of form, however players of his quality don’t get held down for too long. Still a great chance to explode, just extremely risky. A good punt!
Hazard – It would be like riding the bi-polar express owning this guy, so to suggest captaincy would be selling you up the river. The same goes for every Chelsea player, the returns are just too inconsistent to justify captaincy, let alone job security…
Silva – He copped a knock midweek so is a slight doubt for the Sunderland clash. I can see Man City storming through this one, but I’m going to tend to steer clear of all midfielders as a general rule, so a no for me.
Lambert – For anyone who owns him and may be slightly tempted, I’m here to try and talk some sense into you. Don’t do it.
Soldado – One goal from open play is nowhere near enough to justify him as a captain option, especially when you consider the top 3 this week. Play it safe, this doesn’t look like the week to get tricky.
Giroud – He is still a solid option to own, but not a captain option this week with a tricky fixture away to United. Not enough potential to justify the risk.
1. Suarez – Let’s be honest, the top 3 is where it’s at this week. Looking elsewhere is like playing Russian roulette with 5 of the 6 bullets loaded. The top 2 are so hard to split and hopefully most of you only own one, and save yourself the hassle. For those that own both however you’re in with a tricky dilemma, albeit a nice one. I’m on the Suarez wagon this week as I have ignored him twice only to see him score 10 and 17 points respectively. A home game against Fulham gives SAS the perfect opportunity to bounce back and bounce back in a good way. All aboard!
2. Aguero – You just can’t deny this mans form, another 2 goals + an assist midweek to go with his 18 points last weekend make him the in-form forward in Europe, yet lone the league. Sunderland away should be a romp for City and surely Aguero will be heavily involved, however he is likely to be substituted after playing 3 games in the last week, probably after bagging 2 mind you. You can hardly split the pair and in the end it will come down to personal preference, let’s hope they both explode!!!
3. Sturridge – If for whatever reason you own neither of the previous 2, then look no further. Sturridge is still looking incredibly dangerous and will feel this is the week for him to bag a big goal haul. Let’s hope for a Liverpool romp in any case, then we can’t go wrong!
Rooney – As I’ve said I’m not sure this is the week to be taking a punt, however he does love these Arsenal Man United clashes. Arsenal’s defence has been all but solid, then again they kept SAS scoreless and Dortmund out away from home midweek. It’s certainly a punt that could pay off if you can remember back to the 8-2 thrashing, but this is a new Arsenal outfit. Play it safe this week I say!
So that’s it from me this week! Sorry for being absent but I’ve got exams over the next couple of weeks and my marks aren’t looking too flash! There is a well timed international break coming up before we enter the hectic Christmas period, so we can all gather our thoughts and I’ll be back in 2 weeks time. Good luck! Cheers.
