The Captains – GW18

Reading Time: 2 minutes

captains

Welcome back to yet another edition of the captains! After a tough round with plenty of armband options going down injured or rested, it’s time to bounce back with the final round of the hectic festive period. Let’s get right into it!

The Contenders:

Rooney – I’m sure a lot of us will have learnt that you should never captain someone who has a chance of missing out. That’s not to say that Rooney was a bad option last week, that was just unlucky. However he is clearly carrying an injury and will have to be a doubt for this weekend. I’m sure he will start but I wouldn’t risk it.

Negredo – He will start tonight, however his away form is extremely poor and he shouldn’t be considered an option.

Top 3:

1. Suarez – I’m sorry for the shortness of the article, but there’s no point in wasting anytime when there is a lock captain just waiting for us. Suarez is a bit of a flat track bully at the moment, but that’s just how I like it. Regardless of how well Hull are doing, travelling to the home of Luis Suarez is an almost impossible task. Don’t go against him please!

2. Walcott – If you want to commit fpl suicide, then Walcott may be your next best bet. He is in fantastic form and really should of had another goal last weekend. He will be key against Cardiff, just ignore his potential injury concerns. I’m 99% sure he will start. Arsenal need him.

3. Hazard – The form midfielder of the competition, he is starting to add consistency to his game. However Southampton away is going to be a very difficult task for Chelsea and I wouldn’t be looking at captaining him.

The Punt:

Podolski – This is also a punt if you’re after a new forward option. I’ve taken a big risk in trading him in, however I think he is odds on to start this weekend. He has scored 19 points in the 2 games he’s played and is a fantastic chance to start upfront with Giroud out. Not a bad punt at all!

So that’s it from me this week. Not many contenders as most will surely captain a hungry Suarez. Good luck to everyone this weekend, I’ll be taking a well earned break and will be back ready to fire some transfer talk next week. May everyone have a very happy new year. Cheers!

It will be a hard one. You may need to flip a coin. Although Man City aren’t too flash away, with Silva missing for City surely Nasri will play behind the striker? I would go with him, but its your choice 🙂

I am not sure whether to risk selling Giroud for Podolski with great chance of him scoring if he starts or going for the safer option of Remy or Lukaku?? HELP PLEASE! Thanks 🙂

Not sure if Suarez or Ronaldo!? He has the stance, power, accuracy, curve, all he needs now is the FIFA rating lol! Absolute brilliant free kick!
Hopefully he can make up for his disallowed goal and score another?

Also, Rooney starting tonight and Vidic giving Man Utd some more stability, and maybe an option?? (As mentioned in Dream Team article I am pretty sure).

  4. Aussie

Wildcard Available! Here’s my new team: Who are everyone’s defenders??? Can’t seem to find any reliable cheapies, 5.0 and below, who will play and occasionaly get a cleanie!

Seems to be going good(the main man?) with the new coach! Only problem with him seems to be only the other viable players in that price range, lalana and cabaye. The latter are too mainstream and eriksen looks to be a great hipster move 😀 He hasn’t totally proved himself yet too tho but has been great since the new coach, so I’d just keep an eye out if he’d go on a dry spell. He also doesn’t have a good spell of fixtures after the next two weeks(by the time Ramsey comes back) til gw33, that’s a hell of a long time and probably would of been moved on by then 😛
