FPL 2014/15 – Kick Off!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

On the 16th of July 2013, FPL kicked off for the new season. It seems that it’s our lucky date, once again it has brought us addicts much joy. Let’s get a petition happening for a public holiday! With the game re-opened, it’s time to get back to work! I hope you’ve all enjoyed your holiday’s, because the gears are being shifted back into action. We will once again be endeavoring to help everyone achieve fantasy glory, whether that be in your private leagues or perhaps some overall success!

The transfer window is well underway, so fresh blood will be returning. We also have some fixture analysis lined up for you, with last year’s success story Colesy analysing every angle on offer. Baysie will once again provide us with some much needed help when researching the newly promoted teams. Nick will be straight into the study to hunt down some bargains, as will I. Also we’re happy to announce the return of our cheating lover Tom Seagrim, who has returned after a quick stint at the Pundits.

We have put our biggest team together for the upcoming season in order to make it our most successful year yet! Our views doubled last season, and we’d love to make that happen once again. Tell your friends, spread the word. If there’s any other addicts out there, send them here! That is if you’re happy to give up your secret weapon…

We’ll be starting up the RMT section tomorrow, as well as updating the set piece takers. We’ll also get some leagues together ASAP (See code at bottom of article). Don’t forget to sign up and login so you can join in the conversation, it’s all pretty straight forward! I’m excited, I hope you’re excited. All I can say is bring it on!

I’ll leave you with my tweet of the day… Possibly the year.

But seriously its good to have you guys back! Going to be great season. Oh and yeah guess its good to see Seags back again 😛

First things first though. Time to think of an outstanding team name for upcoming season!

Cannot wait for the season to start again! Good to have you back…it won’t be the same though without one Luis Suarez. Still coming to terms with his depature as a Liverpool fan myself.

    Sanchez 10.5m and a mid… A bit off there :/ Whoops
    Tadic also 7.5m!!! WHY!!!

The cheap players are gonna be the base of our team this year… Even more than before

Few things caught my eye with the price list:

    RVP expensive
    Mannone/Krul rotation bargain
    United defence cheap
    G.Johnson 5.5
    Creswell overpriced
    Last year’s bargains expensive
Promoted strikers provide huge value with Nugent and Ings (+Murray)

    Let the study begin…

    So right off the bat…

    Evra / Terry / Bruce
    Sanchez / Yaya / Lallana / Schurrle
    Sturridge(C) / Ings / Nugent

    Krul – Davies / Poyet / Dummet

    FIRE UP!!!!

Can’t wait for your first articles Lads. This site was one of the best going around last year for fantasy EPL advice.

Who do we reckon are the 5 biggest locks in FPL this year atm? I think Hazard, Sturridge, Ings/Nugent, Chelsea Def, and Mannone/Krul would have to be up there. Also think Ozil will have a big year

    • Go You Gunners

Also… watch out for the Kangaroos to come home like a freight train, steal 4th, knock over Sydney at the SCG, book a home prelim, then cruise home to a GF win :p

Discussion point then… When was the last striker from a promoted team that did anything of note? I can’t recall any since Andy Johnson with Palace?

      • mattcraigdt Post Author

Lambert, haven’t had many dominant strikers come through in the past few years, Murray never got a chance. Most have decided to splash the cash

      • Go You Gunners

Dunno about Sanchez.. would much prefer proven options of Ozil or Walcott when he gets back.. also frees up 1.5 extra to go from a say Oscar or Lallana to Hazard

        • nburk53

Wouldn’t say Ozil really proved himself last season, has copped a lot of criticism. Plus his World Cup was shite. But then again I am predicting a better year from him.

          • Go You Gunners

And I’m expecting Ozil to have a better season as he settles in. Plus he will have a lot less attention I reckon with opposition focusing more on Sanchez

          • mattcraigdt Post Author

His world cup was definitely not shite, people just judge on goals and assists now. His creativity is magnificent. With Sanchez and hopefully Walcott to feed he should pick up

    • N1qQ45 4R3 K1nG5

Hazard hasn’t shown any form since like 2/3s of the way through last season, and that’s probably a bit of an under-exaggeration as well… Sturbridge Im a bit wary of but still recon he will do very well this year, he should be the main striker but I don’t know how he is gonna play with the new kids on the block.

        • N1qQ45 4R3 K1nG5

True, but I just can’t stand those months where he simply does nothing for the entire time (FPL wise anyway) so I dont think Ill be starting with him.

And Matt is quite right, Ozil was the link up man in Germany’s squad and wasnt necessarily putting in those final balls all the time or getting on the end of it either. Ozil is one of the best play makers in the world still, he just doesn’t get those stats that everyone bases their opinion on.

Sanchez aint a lock either, I really want him but I’m still tossing the coin on whether or not Walcott would be a better option, if he is fit that is…

Must say i’m finding it pretty easy to build a strong side for GW1… Well strong on paper anyway!

  9. MattyZach

Can’t believe it’s back already. Just when you think it’s safe to focus on AFL..

    Unbelievably excited!
