The Captains – DGW34

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Suit up, it’s double gameweek time!!! It has been a long season, but these final 5 weeks will separate the pretenders from the contenders. Whether you’re fighting for overall rank, pushing for a league finals birth or looking to win that cash league, every point counts. We have a massive captaincy call on our hands this week, let’s take a look at the options!

The Contenders:

Kane – I’ve heard some talk about people benching Kane, crazy business! Not a captaincy option however…

Coutinho – Coutinho has undoubtedly been the most overrated player this season. There was calls for him to be nominated for player of the season… 4 goals and 4 assists?!?! It is a massive risk to make him captain, but when he does score he usually goes double figures… Big risk big reward. Go on your gut instinct, mine says he’s not a captain.

Costa – He is in doubt for this weekends clash against Arsenal and that’s too much doubt for my liking. Avoid.

Remy – Another player in doubt, nightmare! Only captain someone who will play 180 minutes

Oscar – As I just said, only captain someone who will play 180 minutes… Having said that I don’t mind Oscar as a POD this week. Big gamble.

Ivanovic – If you are one of those people who love being different, then Ivanovic still shouldn’t be for you. Playing Arsenal at the Emirates isn’t worth it when you have a bloke like Hazard…

Top 3:

1. Hazard – Anyone going with an alternative to Hazard should reconsider it immediately. How is this for a stat; he has bagged a goal or an assist in 14 of his last 18 appearances. He’s basically guaranteed to score or assist, and considering that he has bagged a ridiculous 40 bonus points this season, we can expect double figures this week. LOCK for me.

2. Sterling – If you were to go an alternative, Sterling is by far my favourite pick. With Sturridge out injured (shock horror) there is a big chance Sterling will play up front, greatly improving his chances. Since Sturridge returned from injury, Sterling hadn’t registered a goal or assist in the 3 games he started. When Sturridge didn’t start? 6 games, 3 goals and 3 assists. Definitely an option to seriously consider if you need to make some ground…

3. Aguero – Kun has snuck in this week, but I’m not at all convinced if I’m honest. Aston Villa are fighting for survival, while Man City have fallen off a cliff. I have no idea what will happen this game, but an easy City win seems the least likely. Aguero still doesn’t seem to be in peak form, but he is finding the back of the net. A massive gamble!

The Punt:

Henderson – For some reason, Henderson is owned by almost 25% of players. His role hasn’t changed at all, meaning he’s still the same bloke that had just 2 goals and 7 assists in his first 25 appearances. Sure he scored a screamer, fluked a goal through defensive pressure and took a cheap penalty, but none of it seems sustainable. He is the definition of a punt, only the rewards don’t seem to match the risk.

There you have it! Surely Hazard will be captained by 9/10 players, I just hope he backs us up… Good luck for the double gameweek guys, as always let’s make it a high scoring one!

I agree Matt, if you don’t have Hazard captain you are simply less likely to have a good week than someone with him captain

Henderson + Sterling + DGW (vs West Brom and Hull) = 10 pts.

Baines (vs Man Utd) = 10pts.
