Apart from my defence and goalkeeper earning me a grand total of 7 points my week was O.K. with a slight drop in the rankings to around 60k. Having Ighalo or benching Mahrez seemed to be the big differentiating factors this week, lets have a look who else succeeded, as well as those who didn’t.

Man United v West Ham

Likes; Man United’s defense produced it’s 9th clean sheet of the season, best defence in the league by far, if nothing else.

Dislikes; 29 shots and no goals, come on united, put the bloody ball in the net. Lingard (4.5) looks the only relevant player going forward, cheap and good to chuck on the bench.

Stoke v Man City

Likes; Stoke proved that their defensive improvement is no fluke, totally shutting out one of the best attacking teams in the league.  Their attack was also very impressive; a nice partnership between Shakiri (6.6) and Arnautovic (6.0) could be brewing.

Dislikes; For all of us who enjoy Man City getting dominated by Stoke, it was not so great for the notable number of us with one or more sky blues players in our teams.

Arsenal v Sunderland

Likes; That’s now 9 games in a row that Ozil has an assist or a goal, really quite remarkable, if you don’t have Ozil in your team then you better take a long hard look at yourself.  Ramsey was very involved and we all know he is capable from the double pivot position, any one interested and at 8.0? Sunderland do look a much improved side under Big Sam.

Dislikes; It’s now 4 goals without a clean sheet for Arsenal, Bellerin owners like myself are starting to consider alternatives. If it wasn’t for Sunderland’s horrid upcoming schedule I would have brought in Pantillimon (monitor him, best keeper in back end of last season) last week instead of making my stupid straight swap of Begovic to Courtois.

Swansea v Leicester

Likes; Everyone has got to be loving the way the foxes are playing football right now, truly amazing they sit on top of the table after 15 gameweeks. Mahrez’s hatrick, albeit with some questionable goals, and Vardy’s heavy involvement highlighted that we simply must hold onto them for now, or else you run the risk of losing over 20 points in a single gameweek.

Dislikes; Swansea have well and truly lost the plot for the time being, hopefully they can get it back soon. Avoid for now.

Watford v Norwich

Likes; Ighalo and Deeney, powerful in every sense of the word. For all the talk about strikers over recent weeks Ighalo and Deeney have combined for 87 points over the last 5 gameweeks. The fact they only cost 11.0 together is remarkable. Watford look solid defensively too.

Dislikes; Norwich are really struggling and need to pick things up to avoid falling into the relegation zone.

West Brom v Spurs

Likes; This game added to a week that emphasized the highly competitive nature of the Premier League, particularly this season.

Dislikes; Despite his best efforts, Kane has blanked in two straight now, which is concerning. However, great attacking fixtures to come so plenty of reason to be optimistic. What happened to the Pulis effect, it’s now 0 clean sheets in 5.

Southampton v Aston Villa

Likes; I can’t really say much for this game, Southampton are frustratingly inconsistent this season, should have won this one comfortably.

Dislikes; I feel like a broken record. Aston Villa are shite, no fpl relevance. In saying that I just realised this week that Sinclair is still rotting on my bench, haha what a joke that is.

Chelsea v Bournemouth.

Likes; I had an exam on Saturday morning (currently abroad at a U.S college, usually great having games around midday) and came out to see Chelsea lost to Bournemouth at home, no better way to forget about economics. Bournemouth’s continued ability to get forward furthers the prospects of players like Josh King(4.6) earning a spot on our bench.

Dislikes; I said all week Hazard was not quite an option yet, but I still didn’t think Chelsea would play so poorl after good showings in recent weeks. Can they please show some consistency and get battered week in week out? T’would be nice.

Newcastle v Liverpool

Likes; All those annoying Liverpool fans being brought back down to earth with a surprise Newcastle loss. A much needed confidence boost for Newcastle.

Dislikes; That horrendous offside cost me 6 points of much needed differential this week.

Everton v Crystal Palace

Likes; Lukaku delivered again with his 5th consecutive goal in a very entertaining game. Both these teams should provide a few upsets this season.

Dislikes; Sweating over that much needed goal from captain Lukaku. How much did that goal mean to your team this week? Personally it saved saved me from dropping all the rankings gains I made last week.

Awards

Darren Rudolph Award; John Ruddy. No huge mishaps this week, so I’ve gone for Ruddy, as he was replaced by a guy who hasn’t played for Norwich in 4 years, after winning too many Darren Rudolph Awards.

Ryan Bennett Award; Joleon Lescott may have scored a goal but has no place in any fpl team.

Jonjo Shelvy Award; Oriol Romeu. Say that three times quickly. Yea didn’t think so. Nor do I think he’ll be on the score sheet again anytime soon.

Sir Jamie Vardy Award; Arnautovic. Stoke have shown very little going forward this season, and then this guy decided to put away two well crafted goals against the previous league leaders, fair enough!

I need to adjust two big mistakes in my team this week. Thinking I had the united defense covered until out of nowhere it was revealed Rojo had a dislocated structure. I also thought Chelsea were back, defensively at least, so I got in Courtois. Now, after 1 week he’s straight back out of the team and De Gea in.

What problems are you facing at the moment?

Cheers,

Harrison.
