Studs Up Skippers GW29

Reading Time: 2 minutes

What a season ladies and gentlemen! Just when you thought Leicester had slipped after drawing against the Baggies at home…Arsenal and Spurs both lose! Something tells me the end of the season is going to be crazy…which makes our captain choices all the more difficult!

The Top 3

1.    Sergio Aguero

Let’s face it, Remi Garde’s men have been extremely poor lately, conceding 11 goals in the last 3 games. The Citizens on the other hand just got destroyed by Liverpool, therefore they really need to cement their spot in the Big 4. That makes Aguero your man for this game week. He scored 6 goals and 1 assist in the last 6 EPL games (+1 assist in the League Cup final) and he is the Sky Blues’ best player (as you already know). If you traded him due to his GW27 blank, now is the time to pray 🙂 Unsurprisingly, he’s leading captain polls by far.

The pros: great form, consistency, great fixture at home
The cons: not a good differential (euphemism…)

2.     Diego Costa

Chelsea’s resurrection has coincided with Costa’s. The Brazilian-born Spaniard scored 8 goals and 4 assists in the last 11 games, demonstrating he had found his consistency back. He also earned 10 bonus points in the process. A home game against a shaky (but somehow improving!) Stoke, which has conceded 11 goals in the last6 games, is a good chance to keep the momentum going. Bear in mind that he has a crucial Champion’s League game to play next week…could that influence his mind state in this seemingly less important and easier game? FYI  though, he scored one goal and one assist before the first leg against PSG in Chelsea’s hammering of the Magpies (5-1 was the final score)

The pros: great form, consistency, good fixture at home
The cons: a crucial Champion’s League game to play next week

3.        Harry Kane

The London derby is the game you don’t want to miss this week! Being 3 points ahead and playing at home, Spurs are in a position of power against Wenger’s men. This game could be a goal fest if both teams throw everything they’ve got in this battle for London’s supremacy (and maybe the title!). Harry Kane would be well inspired to deliver a strong performance and make us forget about his 2  blanks in a row!

The pros: lone striker, heated derby against Arsenal could be a goal fest, Spurs have an edge and play at home
The cons: two blanks in the last 2 games, a derby is always uncertain

The punt.

Mesut Ozil

Despite a surprising blank at home to Swansea, I’m going to give the punt spot to Mesut Ozil. Arsenal is doing it again: screwing up when it seemed they had done the hardest part! Who better to “save” them against their arch enemy (Spurs of course!) than their German play maker? Spurs seem to be in a better position to win this game but it’s a derby so you never know…

The pros: key play maker for Arsenal, heated derby against Spurs could be a goal fest
The cons: Spurs seems to have an edge right now…a derby is always uncertain though!

Thanks guys. Hope this has helped!

G’day mate! I’ve gone with Aguero this week too.. but was wondering whether there’ll be any double GW’s this season? if not, Aguero might be a good choice for triple points this week?

got in too late and didnt get to captain Aguero at home to Villa… Sweet. Hope he doesnt go too big and Vardy still gets something against Watford,
