The Stock Market – GW28

Another gameweek, another train wreck for most managers. This has been a tough season so far, but hopefully the double gameweeks ahead can change things! Unfortunately, it looks as though it may get worse before it gets better… Here’s a wrap of GW28.

On the rise

Firmino – A couple of weeks ago I traded out an in form Firmino because of Coutinho’s return to the team. Guess what, Coutinho didn’t play on the weekend and it was Firmino who did the damage! Frustratingly Liverpool have another blank gameweek to come next week, however after that I’ll be looking to get on board ahead of their doubles!

Lennon – I had my eye on Lennon last week but decided to look the other way. Mistake. He has now scored in 3 of his last 4 for Everton and looks great value at 5.6. One to try and squeeze into your squad during the DGW’s.

Antonio – Another who you can perhaps squeeze in at M5 (Or even higher) is Antonio. Concerningly he started at right back last week, but that didn’t stop him scoring from a corner! Antonio has now contributed to 10 goals (5 goals 5 assists) in his last 11 games, he’s the real deal.

Sigurdsson – As much as I didn’t buy into the hype last month, I liked what I saw from Sigurdsson against Arsenal. It looks as though with the exit of Shelvey that Gylfi has a free role in midfield, and he’s loving it. Sadly he still lacks support, but with kind fixtures for the Swans he’s a great short term option during the blanks.

Costa – I’ve got to pay him credit, as all the top teams falter and so do their strikers, Costa continues to score! He’s not blowing it out of the water and thus I’m happy to pass, but he’s a solid differential. I’d still be dumping him for Lukaku/Sturridge as soon as the doubles are announced!

Wickham – I’m not sure whether this is a flash in the pan or not, but Wickham has scored 4 absolutely cracking goals in the past 2 weeks. He’ll be high on confidence and should be high on your watchlist if a cheap forward is what you require. Just keep in mind he’s touch and go for this Sunday with a ‘knock’.

Defenders – Perhaps more appropriately, the big teams! Everyone is struggling up the top of the table, and it’s starting with their defences. Arsenal are hardly looking solid, so Koscielny has suffered a dip. He’s out this weekend with a hip problem, get rid! Cech is also out for 3-4 weeks with a calf injury, so I’m not hopeful for Arsenal’s defensive prospects.

Smalling’s injury caused many pain, but his value had plummeted anyway after Van Gaal decided to entertain, and it’s paying off for him!  Hopefully Leicester can return to their solid ways. All in all, it was a disastrous week at the back!

Premiums – It hasn’t just been the big defenders struggling, our premiums have been letting us down as well. Ozil was due an off week, but there’s struggles elsewhere. Man City have scored just three times in their last 4 games which is seriously hurting Aguero. They need to lift! Kane and Vardy have scored just once in the past month also, whilst Giroud has lost all form completely. Sturridge hasn’t exactly hit the ground running either! It’s obvious that the most in form players come from the most in form teams, so Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool feature prominently! Will this continue? I doubt it… Thus we have a dilemma. Give the uber premos another chance.

Alli – You’ll just have to swallow your pride if you recently traded Alli in. He’s been struggling with an injury niggle but should be back to full fitness against Arsenal! He’s still cracking value at 6.0 and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he puts a flat Arsenal to the sword.

Eriksen – This was scripted. I’m sure if I stuck with him I’d be rewarded, but I’m not hanging around any longer to find out. I don’t think a single player has burned me so many times, you can ink him in for a goal tonight! So long Eriksen.

Kane – After a great January, Kane averaged just 3 points per game in February. That single goal came from a penalty. He’s proven that it’s worth holding onto him, hopefully he turns his form around before Everton’s double gameweek because you can bet Lukaku will be coming into my side!!!

There wasn’t really a standout player this week, so that’s it from me! What a massive game the North London Derby is tonight. Let’s make it a high scoring week (For once), and most importantly Come on you Gunners!!!
