The Teams:

Chelsea (1st) v (3rd) Arsenal

Head to Head:
Chelsea: 61
Draw: 54
Arsenal: 73

This season: Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates (24 Sep)

Arsenal have long dominated this fixture over time, highlighted by Chelsea being unable to win these contests from 1999 to April 2004 (Arsenal 11, Draws 6). Since the Blues won on 6/4/04, Arsenal have only beaten Chelsea 6 times in 13 years including earlier this season (Chelsea 18, Draws 7).

Form Guide (last 10 League games)
Chelsea: 8-1-1 (1st)
Arsenal: 6-1-3 (4th)

Chelsea have won 10 of 11 at home this season, thumping in 30 goals in the process. Arsenal are 6-3-2 on the road, scoring 27 goals away from home.

Prediction: Chelsea (2-1)

Blues have just been too good this season. One of their blemishes this season was a thumping loss at the Emirates, so expect revenge to be on the mind of Conte’s men. Arsene Wenger won’t be happy given last week’s home defeat to Watford. Given the scoring records of these two rivals this season, expect both to end on the scoresheet, Chelsea just too good.

West Brom (8th) v (9th) Stoke City

Head to Head:
West Brom: 45
Draw: 36
Stoke: 60

This season: Draw (1-1) (Sept 24)

The last 10 clashes between the sides have seen split results. West Brom winning 4, Stoke 3 & 3 draws. However, Stoke have not won any of the last 4 as 3 Albion wins preceded this season’s draw.

Form Guide (last 10 games overall)
West Brom 5-1-4 (8th)
Stoke City 3-4-3 (11th)

West Brom have won 5 of last 8 at home with 1 draw & 2 losses. Stoke have the 7th best last 8 away games record in the league, however this only includes 3 wins. (2 draws & 3 losses).

Prediction: Draw (1-1)
Two teams travelling quite well in the upper mid table. Trouble for both sides is consistency which makes this game hard to tip. I see another 1-1 draw for both sides – following their respective 1-1 midweek results.

Crystal Palace (18th) v (20th) Sunderland

Head to Head:
Crystal Palace: 17
Draw: 15
Sunderland: 15

This season: Crystal Palace 3-2 away win (24 Sept)

Not too much history between the sides with just 47 clashes ever between them, however split quite evenly. Since Crystal Palace returned to the top flight following the 2012-13 playoff win, the teams have played 7 times, the Eagles winning 3, Black Cats 2 & two draws.

Form Guide (last 10 League games)
Crystal Palace: 2-2-6 (17th)
Sunderland: 2-2-6 (19th)

Both teams had no trouble finding the net last time they clashed however Palace have only scored 11 times in the last 10 games. Sunderland have only scored 8. The September scoreline can more likely attributed to the defence as the teams have conceded 15 & 19 goals in those 10 games.

Prediction: Draw (0-0)
Both teams have shaky defences but also scoring woes at the other end. Given the crucial nature of this clash (almost must win for Sunderland), expect two dogged performances which could lack in the front thirds as a result. However, an early goal could change the tone for the rest of the match. If it stays level until late, there’s also every chance of a countering goal if a team commits too much forward.

Watford (13th) v (10th) Burnley

Head to Head:
Watford: 11
Draw: 9
Burnley: 16

This season: Burnley won 2-0 at home (Sept 26)

Not much history in this clash either with just 36 matches between the sides. They have only played each other the once in the last 3 years (September ’16) due to being in different divisions the last two seasons prior. The four previous clashes (2012-13 & 2013-14) all ended in draws – just one scoreless.

Form Guide (last 10 league games)
Watford: 2-3-5 (16th)
Burnley: 5-0-5 (10th)

Burnley have been poor away from home, winless in 10 with just 1 of their 29 league points coming from their travels. Watford have been a mixed bag at home with a 4-3-4 record.

Prediction: Watford (1-0)

Watford are on a high following a midweek win over the Gunners. Burnley have been outstanding at home but until they can turn their travelling form around, they’re never a safe tip.

Southampton (12th) v (11th) West Ham

Head to Head:
Southampton: 48
Draw: 46
West Ham: 73

This season: Southampton 3-0 away win (Sept 25)

Since both getting promoted to the top flight in 2011-12, the honours have been split with 3 wins each & 3 draws. Southampton have the last 2, and 3 of the last 5 between the sides (1 draw).

Form Guide (last 10 games overall)
Southampton: 3-1-6 (14th)
West Ham: 5-1-4 (9th)

West Ham have won just 3 of 11 on the road but have won 2 of the last 4 away. Southampton have drawn just 1 of last 8 at home, winning 4.

Prediction: West Ham (0-2)
A tough match to tip with no real indicators to a probable result. Have really just tipped the Hammers on an instinct decision. A positive for them is they haven’t struggled for goals without Payet, Andy Carroll a big recent improver.

Bonus Match:
Everton (7th) v (14th) Bournemouth

Head to Head:
Everton: 5
Draw: 1
Bournemouth: 1

This season: Bournemouth 1-0 at home (Sept 24)

Barely any history between the sides as they have only met 7 times. Once in 1935 (Cherries were Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic then) & twice in 1985. Everton had won all 3. Then Bournemouth achieved unlikely promotion in 2014-15. They clashed three times last season, a 3-3 draw & a 2-1 Everton win in the league plus a 2-0 FA Cup win away for Everton. Earlier this season, Bournemouth beat the Toffees for the first time ever.

Form Guide (last 10 league games)
Everton: 5-3-2 (5th)
Bournemouth: 3-2-5 (13th)

Bournemouth have won just 2 of 11 away games this season with 7 defeats. Everton’s have lost just once at home this season, with 6 wins.

Prediction: Everton (3-0)
Both teams to continue their respective good home & poor away runs with the Toffees to run out easy winners.

Extra Quick Tips:

Hull City v LIVERPOOL (1-4)
TOTTENHAM v Middlesbrough (2-0)
MANCHESTER CITY v Swansea (3-0)
Leicester v MANCHESTER UNITED (0-2)
