The Captain Conundrum – Gameweek 10

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome back. Let’s address the elephant in the room… Yes, I told you all to avoid Harry Kane and go with Lukaku. I got it wrong. Several of you ignored me completely and jumped onto Man City players. YOU GOT PEP’D… I warned you what would happen.

An extremely average 57 point haul last week saw me climb 20k in places, this week is an incredibly tough one to judge. On with the show.

Harold Kane Vs Man United (Away)

The thing that makes this a great pick is that Harry Kane rarely scores just 1 goal, his brace (and beyond) potential is huge, and with the form he’s in, you’d be silly not to consider him. He tore apart the baboons anus last week, but this week is an entirely different beast.

This is Kane vs Mourinho, will the infamous bus get parked? It doesn’t often happen at Old Trafford by the home team but a blanket 3 in front of a back 4 has worked wonders a couple of times against Spurs this season and seems to be the way to shut them down.

Harry is a risky pick, even though he’s away, which we all love, and even though Harry Kane’s best record is in EARLY kick offs, it’s still risky. If anyone can find a way past the bus, it’s Harry.

Manchester City vs West Brom (Away)

Tony Pulis this season is everything we don’t expect from Tony Pulis. Sure, West Brom started out with a few 1-0 wins courtesy of having a few massive guys with huge foreheads, but lately they’ve been… attacking. Yeah really, in the top 8 for shots per game over the last 4 gameweeks, they’re also in the top 8 for crosses and forward passes. This does mean they are conceding goals for fun though. The last thing they want is City right now. Lol.

My advice, as always is pick the guys who will play, given they had an extra time game mid-week you can play it safe.

Sterling – Played 120 mins – avoid

Aguero & Jesus – Both played (120 & 88 respectively) – way too risky to pick one

KDB & Sane – Both played a small part – safe picks

David Silva – rested, guaranteed to play

And this is how to play it safe guys! Sane will be the safest pick for me, and likely to get marked all game, he’s the most likely for attacking returns though.

KDB has 6 assists and a goal during this run of 200 goals in 3 games for City and for me, is the pick of the bunch. Sure, I love Silva, and as an owner I’d consider him, but historically WBA (and Pulis) have locked him down fairly easily (1 assist, ever) so KDB should be left to feed the attacking trio… whoever that may be!

IF you had to pick a striker, it’d be Jesus, BUT…

…Don’t get Pep’d.

Salah Vs Huddersfield (Home)

I don’t need to make any more jokes about Liverpool’s defence do I? This is all about their attack though, and in the absence of the main Mane (I’ll never apologise for a pun), one man is getting all the Love-ren (too far?) and that man is Salah. With Firmino going through a Minging-olet (I’ll stop now) patch, everything is going through Salah.

Even though he’d probably struggle to even finish his dinner, he has 5 goals & 2 assists, both teams press high so there will be goals in this game. He’s currently the 2nd most captained player too, with 33% ownership, it could be costly to avoid him.

Hazard vs Bournemouth (Away)

We’ve all been waiting patiently for Eden to have the game we want, away at Bournemouth could well be THE game. They’re dodgy at the back; play attacking football at home and Chelsea are having wild, open games with goals. This is a perfect fixture for Hazard owners. There aren’t many, but those of you that have him, have him for games like this.

The Point of difference

When looking for a ‘POD’ you want a few things, unpredictable fixture, a player in form, anus references.

So this week I’m picking Aaron Mooy.

He’s playing so well, that this week an 8 year old Huddersfield fan sent him five quid. That’s around $8 AUD. This week see’s him up against everyones favourite primate anus, Liverpool’s defence. Set pieces are another of their weakness, along with crossing, and picking up runners from midfield.. Mooy is great at all these, so it’s not as much of a gamble as you’d think.

Top 3

1. KDB

2. Harry Kane

3. Mo Salah

    Great article.
There is a big IF in the air regarding Harry Kane. It might be good Old fashion mind games BUT, it seems likely that theres something going on regarding Harrys hamstring. Been trying to Update on this one, and Friday will be decision time.
I have a sneaky feeling that United is set to win against Spurs. Im almost on the edge of saying we might have a +3 goals game as well. Seeing Spurs line up against West Ham and United’s against Swansea, combined with hamstring issuess(?) for Kane. Well…
Im not all inn but the C wont be placed at Old Trafford Saturday.

    Yesterday:
Kane was replaced for the final two minutes of Sunday’s 4-1 win over Liverpool and left the field holding his hamstring after scoring twice.

Pochettino shrugged off any injury concerns but said Kane would be rested for the Carabao Cup fourth-round match against West Ham, and he played no part in Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat.
Pochettino surprisingly withdrew Fernando Llorente, the only other natural centre-forward in his squad, with 20 minutes remaining against the Hammers, despite trailing by a goal.
And asked by beIN Sports at Wembley if Kane is a doubt for Saturday, Pochettino said only, “we’ll see,” adding: “We need to assess the team, we were forced to rotate [tonight] for different reasons.

    Regarding Cap:
    Salah. Two reasons.
    • Liverpool at home in a must win game. Face it, it’s sexytime when they attack and ‘Life goes on’ (With Corky) in defence.
    • Huddersfield came from a solid 2-1 against United. And are set for another solid game.
At least thats what they think. Klopp wont park the bus, Huddersfield flying high at the moment. Classic bite u in the ass scene written all over that game!

And Salah seems like a more reasonable picking for the C then Coutinho (who i don’t have) And that other, whats his name? The one with pyjamas sized shorts and the smile of an Spanish Real estate agent?
Firmino, yes. Who i can’t stand!

So, best of luck Saturday folks.
May the balls be with u!
